Barcelona continue to excel and make a statement through their UEFA Champions League campaign. With three wins out of three games, the Catalan giants have already accumulated nine points.
With their next fixture set to be away from home against Shakhtar, even a single point will be enough to see out their qualification to the knockout stages. From among the many stars that made this possible, Fermin Lopez is a name that stands out.
UEFA Team of the Week
Thanks to his recent performance against Shakhtar in the Montjuic Stadium, Barcelona maintain a perfect record in the Champions League. With a brilliant goal and an overall classy performance, he was named man of the match as well.
As a consequence, he has now been included in UEFA’s Champions League Team of the Week. The 20-year-old Spaniard is among the eleven players that accumulated the most fantasy points this week.
Fermin is among the four midfielders in the eleven. He is joined by the likes of Inter Milan’s Hakan Çalhanoğlu, PSV’s Xavi Simmons, and PSG’s Warren Zaïre-Emery. Moreover, Fermin was also the player who accumulated the second-highest points this week from among the UCL fantasy picks.
La Masia sparkles
Earning a massive 15 points, he was only behind Porto’s Evanilson (16). Interestingly, Lopez was also not the only La Masia talent to make the final team. Andre Onana from Manchester United and Xavi Simmons from PSV are also former La Masia graduates who have since traveled elsewhere.
FC Barcelona will next return to UEFA Champions League football on the 7th of November. They will visit the Volksparkstadion to face off against Shakhtar Donetsk away from home.
However, they first have the task to take on Real Madrid at the Montjuic Stadium. The El Clasico could prove to be yet another great opportunity for Fermin Lopez to announce himself to the world.
