FC Barcelona have been in contact with various interested parties for the sale of Barca Studios and to take over from the delayed payments that were originally expected from Orpheus Media and Socios.com in exchange for a percentage ownership of the said asset.
However, it now appears that FC Barcelona have finally managed to conclude a sale to German Investment fund Libero that was negotiated to take over from the unpaid allocations towards both Orpheus Media and Socios.com, as that percentage is now under the ownership of Libero Football Finance AG.
As has been officially announced by FC Barcelona, an agreement has been reached to advance a partnership with both the German entity Libero Football Finance AG as well as NIPA Capital BV for a percentage of Barca Vision (Bridgeburg Invest).
According to the details provided by the official statement of the club, Barcelona are now entitled to €120 million in exchange for 29.5% ownership of Barca Vision (Bridgeburg) which is corresponding to the stake held by Orpheus Media and Socios.com previously.
Consequently, the remaining 19.5% ownership of Barca Vision is retained by the two entities previously mentioned and will be shared equally between them as a 9.75% ownership towards each of the two.
Barcelona will indefinitely remain in superior ownership and as the majority shareholder as they retain 51% of the asset itself. Barcelona president Joan Laporta’s comments regarding
the importance of this particular asset was also added to the official statement by the club, as the president stated:
“Over the past few years, we have made considerable progress in the digital ecosystem turning our assets into a creative hub that boosts FC Barcelona’s brand to unique levels in the World.”
The official confirmation regarding the agreement of this €120 million injection comes at a crucial moment for FC Barcelona as La Liga is set to kick off for the Catalans not too long from now on Sunday against fellow Spanish side Getafe.
This particular injection of additional funds could very well provide significant aid towards the registration of various Barcelona players still left unregistered, and in turn, would make them available for selection on Sunday for Xavi Hernandez.
