The dawn of a new season is now properly upon FC Barcelona, as the Catalan giants begin to truly formulate and complete their priority signings for the summer transfer window. The latest of such signings is one that the Catalans have urgently managed to complete and finalize.
According to FC Barcelona themselves through their official website and social media platforms, the signing of 23-year-old Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix has now officially been completed as he joins La Blaugrana for the 2023/2024 season.
Arriving on a loan deal with no option to buy attached to it, he will remain a Barcelona player until June of 2024. He will compete for Barca across all competitions that they are subject to playing and participating within.
Initiated from his exclusive interview with Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, where the 23-year-old Portuguese forward claimed that joining Barcelona would be a dream come true for him as he looked to one day represent the Catalan giants.
Having recently had a turbulent relationship with his current club Atletico Madrid and manager Diego Simeone, the player was not in the plans of his head coach and thus was actively looking for a way out of the Madrid-based club.
For Atletico, the former SL Benfica forward has made 131 appearances since arriving in 2019. During this period, he has scored 34 times for Los Colchoneros and provided 18 assists for them. In between, he also went on loan to Chelsea for half a season making 20 appearances and scoring 4 goals.
Reported to have been seen as a great market opportunity by Barcelona president Joan Laporta, both him and fans of La Blaugrana will now be hoping to see Xavi Hernandez make the most out of him and turn him into a valuable asset this season for the Blaugranes.
