Pre-seasons provide the perfect environment to revitalize European sides as they look to shake off the rust before the actual season commences. These tournaments are seen as the breeding ground for experimentation, intriguing match-ups, and opportunities for fringe players. FC Barcelona wishes to capitalize on their USA tour for similar motives.

Approaching the first game of the highly anticipated tour, FC Barcelona were seen gearing up for the opener against Juventus, which was set to be played today at 7:30 PM at Levi’s Stadium. However, with merely hours left, an unexpected hurdle has cropped up.

As revealed by the club’s official website, FC Barcelona informs that the game against Juventus FC, as part of the Soccer Champions Tour, has been canceled. This unforeseen news comes on the back of a viral disease spiraling among the Blaugrana players.

A significant part of the squad has endured a viral case of gastroenteritis. According to Javi Miguel, at least 12 Barcelona players are suffering from a stomach virus and are thus unavailable for the clash against Juventus. However, the infected players are expected to recover within 48 hours.

Instead of simply postponing the game, it has been outright canceled, with valid concerns over the pre-existing schedule being affected likely causing the decision.

Barcelona still have time before facing their next opponent in the tour as the game against Arsenal is set to be played on the 27th of July. In the meanwhile, the Blaugrana players will hope to recover and recoup.
