Ronald Araujo has renewed his contract until 2026

Fc Barcelona has announced that the Uruguayan has agreed on a new Deal until 2026 with his release clause rising to €1 billion.

According to various reports, he will earn €6 million per year which is almost three times more than his previous salary at the club.

Araujo’s prior contract was set to expire in 2023 and many clubs showed interest in his signing with much better offers from Barcelona. Manchister United and a few other Premier League clubs were closely monitoring his situation and reportedly offered him more money but the Uruguayan’s priority was to stay at the Camp Nou.

The club has confirmed in an official statement that Araujo will pen down his new contract on Friday 29th April at 1:30 pm CEST at Camp Nou.

Fc Barcelona’s official Twitter account released a teasing video in which Ronald Araujo is seen with a South American caffeine drink with 2026 written on it to announce his renewal.

Araujo joined the Barca B in 2018 from Boston River. He emerged as a key player under previous Barca manager Ronald Koeman and established himself as an undisputed starter for the Blaugranes. He further excelled in his role and became the key part of the new project under the new coach Xavi Hernandez. Since the start of the season, he has made 39 appearances in all competitions and scored four goals so far.

He has shown his versatility, having played as both a left-back and right-back when called upon by manager Xavi Hernandez.

Ronald Araujo has now joined the likes of Pedri and Ansu Fati with a €1Bn release clause and further reports are claiming that Gavi is most likely the next in line to be included in the same list as well.
