The FC Barcelona defense has been working exceptionally well under Xavi Hernandez this season, continuing the good form they showcased last season in order to dominate their competition domestically. This season, with aspirations even higher, Barca will have to do even better.
Initially, matters were made worse by the unexpected injury to key FC Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, who was expected to be sidelined for close to a month or longer due to an injury to the femoral biceps in the hamstring of the leg, an occurrence that took place during training.
However, in what will come as great news to both the officials and fans of La Blaugrana, the medical team of FC Barcelona has officially given the 24-year-old Uruguayan defender the green light to return to first-team action and this has been communicated publicly through the official channels of the club.
As a result, the returning Ronald Araujo has been included by Xavi Hernandez in his final squad list for the upcoming La Liga clash against Celta Vigo at the Montjuic Stadium. The Uruguayan will most probably remain on the bench at kick-off but has a chance to feature at some point during the game.
Previously, Araujo has been gradually recovering from his injury and even took part in group trainings with the Barcelona first team to continue his recovery at the right pace without the club risking any sort of a relapse or extended period of recovery.
In his absence, the likes of Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Inigo Martinez, and the other Barcelona defenders have stepped up and made very strong cases for themselves as well.
Upon his return, it is expected that Xavi will be tasked with a huge problem in order to decide which players of his get to start and which of them wait their turns from the bench.
With Ronald Araujo now back with the first team, only Pedri remains injured for Barcelona. For the time being, it is speculated that the return date of the player by when he is expected to be fully fit again will be near the end of October, possibly by the time Barcelona take on Real Madrid for the La Liga El Clasico.
