In what is set to be a clash of titans, FC Barcelona prepares to embark on their second game of the pre-season tour, facing off against their arch-rivals, Real Madrid at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.

With the game ready to commence shortly, the Catalans have announced an intriguing starting XI. It must be noted that there are unlimited substitutions available for the coach in today’s club-friendly, but the line-up reveals Xavi intends to begin the match on a strong footing.

While the formation is yet to be revealed, with the personnel on display, it is highly likely the infamous box midfield will be on display.

At the back, Barcelona include arguably their best defenders from last season. Balde takes up the left-back position, as he will look to provide width and penetration on the left flank. The center-back spots are occupied by Andreas Christensen and one of Ronald Araujo or Jules Kounde. There is a strong possibility the Uruguayan is berthed on the right flank to neutralize Vinicius’ threat, while Kounde accompanies Christensen centrally.

In the midfield department, Xavi has gone all guns blazing as well. With Frenkie de Jong and Oriol Romeu expected to be stationed in a double pivot, the interiors chosen by the coaching staff are Pedri Gonzalez and Ilkay Gundogan.

It remains to be seen who occupies the false winger position, but Pedri playing that role is certainly on the cards, owing to his experience here previously.

Up front, Lewandowski and Ousmane Dembele form a duopoly. Dembele will employ the right-wing position as he will aim to create opportunities with his chance creation abilities and dribbling.

In the center of the pitch, Lewandowski will be tasked to finish off any opportunities that come his way, while offering his supportive presence in the final third.
