FC Barcelona and Real Madrid face off today in the USA, in what is going to be arguably the most high-profile match of this pre-season tour. Xavi’s team will be looking to reverse their fortunes after a defeat against Arsenal in their first match in the USA.
Real Madrid have announced the line-up that they will put on the field to face Barcelona. Ancelotti seems to have gone with a 4-4-2 formation.
Thibaut Courtois will be starting in the goal for the Madrid side, looking to continue giving the same stellar performances that he has given in the last few seasons.
The defensive line of the Capital side will be made up of Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, and Mendy, with Militao and Alaba playing in the center and Carvajal and Mendy protecting the flanks. The new signing, Fran Garcia, might make an appearance later in the game, but he is not starting the match.
The midfield will feature the youngsters Aurelian Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde, and their star signing of the summer, Jude Bellingham. The midfield of this Madrid side is young and full of energy, but their lack of experience in the center of the pitch can be one area that Barcelona look to profit from.
The attacking duties in Madrid’s line up will be primarily given to the Brazilian duo of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes. Jude Bellingham will also expectedly be playing ahead of the other midfielders, and his primary role will be to support the Brazilians and get in offensive positions whenever the opportunity arises.
Joselu can also come up later in the game for a goal threat, but Madrid will certainly be missing their legend, Karim Benzema.
