With only a few weeks left in the current campaign and no worthwhile trophies left to compete for, FC Barcelona are already engaged in their planning of the squad for the next season. The next few weeks will be decisive as the Catalan club will decide on what actions to take in the upcoming summer market and which players to retain in their team.
The fate of players who are currently away from the club on loans will also be determined in these days, as Barcelona will now be able to assess whether any of them has performed up to the required standards to get a place in the first-team squad next season.
In this regard, things are not looking quite well for one of the players who dreams of returning and succeeding at Barcelona but has not been able to take full advantage of his loan stint, i.e., Ansu Fati.
The youngster joined the Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion after the Italian manager, Roberto de Zerbi, convinced him to make the move.
He was not an automatic starter in the English team, but he gradually started making a place for himself and got significant minutes in the Premier League and especially in the Europa League in the first half of the season.
However, when things were looking to be turning out well for him, another muscular injury struck and kept him out of action for more than two months. He returned from this injury on 3rd February, but as SPORT has reported, the situation has been getting worse for him.
In the last six games, he has played a total of only 29 minutes and has gone the last two consecutive games without even a single minute on the pitch. Thus, it seems like the player has lost de Zerbis’s confidence, and despite the good patch earlier in the season, it looks like the current loan will not do him much good.
Still, Fati is dreaming of convincing Xavi to give him a place in his team for the next season. He believes he will be able to do that in the coming pre-season, but it remains to be seen where he will be playing next season.
