Although it has been some days since the winter transfer window ended for FC Barcelona, the Blaugranes are still engaged in an operation for the departure of one of their players.
This player is Vitor Roque, who is currently playing on loan at Real Betis, as he joined the Sevilla side last summer on a year-long loan that can be extended for another year if the Verdiblancos want.
However, with the reinforcements they brought in the last winter window, it is looking quite unlikely that they will activate the clause to keep him for another year or buy him permanently this season.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian side Palmeiras has also shown its interest in signing the striker, and they can do so before 28th February, as this is the date on which the transfer window closes in Brazil. Recently, the President of Palmeiras confirmed her club’s interest in the young forward.
Work seems to be well underway on this operation, and this is particularly so as SPORT reports that Roque’s agent, Andre Cury, is already in Barcelona to clarify the Blaugranes’ intentions about his star client.
This is going to be a complicated operation with Barcelona, Palmeiras, Real Betis, and Vitor Roque himself all being important stakeholders. For now, these actors will have to decide whether a move is feasible and whether formal negotiations should be opened.
The first step in this regard would be to obtain the player’s own consent, something Palmeiras have been trying to do for quite some time now, and have already offered to make him a franchise player in their team, in addition to offering him the highest contract in their squad.
However, the Brazilians want Barcelona to convince Real Betis to part ways with the striker immediately, without having to pay anything separate to the Andalusians.
In such a context, Cury’s visit to the Blaugrana club can prove to be pivotal, as only after knowing their intentions Roque will be able to make a decision about his future.
