Because of the strained finances and their problems with FFP, FC Barcelona will have to sell some of their players in the upcoming summer transfer window to be able to sign new players.
In addition to the fringe players who are not really needed for the next project, the Catalans will also have to sell some of their important players, whom they would have kept in normal circumstances.
This is particularly the case for the defender Andreas Christensen, who has had a very good season as he adapted well to a midfield pivot role. However, as Flick is looking for a specialist pivot this summer, and there already being a surplus of players in the center-back position, Barcelona would be tempted to sell him.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the player and his family are very happy in Barcelona, and Christensen would think about leaving the Catalan club only if the entity clearly communicates to him that he is not in their plans for the next season.
Owing to his quality and versatility, Barcelona would ideally keep him in their squad going forward. But the Catalans believe that his sale can solve a lot of their economic problems and thus might have to make the difficult decision of parting with him.
In fact, Barcelona have already received several offers for the Danish defender. However, they will wait for the upcoming UEFA EURO 2024, as good performances from Christensen in this tournament can further enhance his value in the market.
The defender is also currently fully focused on this tournament that is going to kick off on 14th June. Christensen will start his campaign with the match between Slovenia and Denmark on 16th June, and will face the difficult task of leading his team into the knockout rounds from a group that also contains England and Serbia.
