FC Barcelona were not in their best moment even before this international break started, but the break has made things even worse.

The Catalans have seen some of their most important players, like Marc Andre Ter Stegen and Gavi, suffer physical problems during this window, which can have significant implications for the team in the coming weeks and months.

The injury to Gavi is particularly serious, as he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament and is out for the entirety of the rest of this season and would not be able to play either for Barcelona or for Spain in the Euros 2024 and the Olympics. The midfielder suffered the injury while playing for Spain against Georgio last Sunday.

The seriousness of the injury means the youngster will have to undergo surgery to properly recover from it, and according to SPORT, this operation will be held on 28th November at the Barcelona Hospital.

The surgery will be carried out by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau, who is a specialist in this field. This surgeon is particularly trusted by FC Barcelona and has already undertaken successful treatments for other Barcelona players including Alexia Putellas and Philippe Coutinho.

Today, on Tuesday morning, Gavi visited the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, where he was able to greet his Barcelona teammates. These teammates received the midfielder with a standing ovation in the gym, and it is clear that the youngster’s injury is a big blow for the Catalan dressing room.

The injury is also a worry as it is one of the worst things that can happen to a footballer in his career. Gavi’s ACL has torn completely and is accompanied by another injury associated with the meniscus, which makes his situation particularly complicated and worrisome.

Thus, injury-related problems will persist for Xavi in the coming days. There was optimism that with Frenkie and Pedri’s return to the team, the Barcelona head coach will have more options to play in the midfield, but Gavi’s season-ending injury will make things still more complicated for Barcelona.
