FC Barcelona have been privileged with a distinct set of talents. Pedri Gonzalez has particularly sent ripples across Europe as he continues to showcase his innate skillset at an exceptionally young age.
The Canary Islander has been at the forefront of many jubilant moments for Barcelona in recent years. He won the Golden Boy and Kopa Trophy in his first season in Europe’s top flight, but does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
After concluding the previous season with considerable success domestically, Pedri, in an interview with El Dia which has been reported by Mundo Deportivo, spoke about his desires for the forthcoming campaign:
“Winning the Champions League with Barça and the World Cup with the Spanish team is my dream, they are trophies that every player wants to have and I have not yet had the privilege of winning either of them. It is something that is in mind and of course, I’m going to fight to get there and be in a position to achieve them”.
The 20-year-old has suffered in the Champions League since arriving at Barcelona and endured a round-of-16 defeat to Morocco in his first World Cup campaign. Still, his words portray optimism for the future.
In addition to revealing his dreams, he acknowledged Barça’s season where he emerged victorious in La Liga and Spanish Super Cup: “I never imagined being where I am now, but I know I have to keep working because I want more titles and reach much higher up.”
Despite financial struggles, the Blaugranas have been a hot topic in the summer transfer window, which the youngster was asked about.
Opting for a rather diplomatic response, Pedri appreciated the current level of the squad and did not decide to indulge in any transfer gossip. “We are a young team that wants to improve. We have a good group, with many qualities, and next year we have to go fight for everything,” he added.
A defining season awaits Barcelona and Pedri will undeniably be an important component for the Catalan giants.
