The FC Barcelona stars still on international duty are working to keep the dreams of their nations alive. Many of these players are still either participating in the Copa America or in the European Championship. However, as Barcelona are all too aware by now, the international break comes with its downsides.

The team knows that the consequences of the international break will gradually catch up to them as well. For Barcelona, many key players will still be at risk of getting injured, and it would not be an uncommon concept given the injuries that players like Gavi have suffered in the past.

Unfortunately, those consequences seem to have already arrived at Barcelona. As highlighted by SPORT, 21-year-old Spanish star Pedri has just been injured in the grand clash between Spain and Germany for a place in the semi-finals of the European Championship.

The Barcelona star was directly fouled by Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, who took out the Canary Islander within the first ten minutes of the game. Not long after, despite trying his best to play on, Pedri had to be substituted and was replaced by Dani Olmo, a player Barcelona have been linked to in recent rumors.

As per the latest update, Pedri seems to have suffered an internal lateral sprain of his left knee. That is the news that the Spanish federation has provided so far, and it is based on that knowledge that other estimates are being provided on the duration of his injury.

According to Gerard Romero, for instance, the Barcelona star could be out for anywhere between one week to one month. This will depend on the extent and severity of his injury, and that will dictate when the Barcelona superstar will make his return.

Other reports are also suggesting that the player’s campaign in the Euros may already be over. Whatever the case may be, Barcelona will definitely be worried about their star midfielder and how he recovers. Pedri has already suffered a lot due to injuries, and Barça will not want it to become a hurdle again.
