FC Barcelona were able to stage a coup on the deadline day of the last summer transfer window as they got two highly competent players in Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo. The signing of the Portuguese duo has significantly strengthened the team, as has been clearly observable in the last two matches.

Barcelona scored five goals in both of these two matches, with the club not having scored a manita in Xavi’s era before the arrival of this Portuguese duo.

Felix’s sacrifice to join Barcelona

While Felix has only just arrived at Barcelona, he is completely committed to the club and is ready to defend his new shirt, as he expressed in an interview with MD that has been highlighted by SPORT.

Signing these two players seemed impossible at the start of the summer window, especially because of the financial difficulties being faced by the club. The players, especially Felix, were able to join Barcelona only by giving a significant financial sacrifice. The forward himself confessed in this interview: “It’s true that I gave up a significant amount of money, but I needed to make a change.”

Felix only on a loan

Felix faced a difficult time at Atletico Madrid before moving to Barcelona, and while he is only on loan for now, he would be relieved to have gotten out of his former club, as Xavi’s team can help him get back to his best again.

However, the way he is performing for Barcelona can be a double-edged sword for the Catalans in the long run. His performances this season can definitely help the club achieve its sporting objectives.

But he is still owned by Atletico Madrid and his performances this season will naturally result in an increased financial demand from the Mattress Makers, which can make it difficult for Barcelona to get him permanently next summer.
