Not many European clubs can hope to boast about a good record against the likes of FC Barcelona. Bayern Munich, however, are one of those few clubs that have been a thorn in the side for the Catalan giants over the last few years. This time around, Barcelona have a chance to get some revenge in the UEFA Champions League.

For their third game of the Champions League league phase, both Barcelona and Bayern will be facing each other at the Montjuic Stadium. With both of the teams in question being two of Europe’s most in-form sides, this clash promises to be a classic with the attacking talent that will be on display.

Here is how Hansi Flick could line up his Barcelona side to take on his former Bavarian team.

Expected Lineup:

Goalkeeper: Inaki Pena

The Spanish goalkeeper did not manage to keep a clean sheet against Sevilla but he was not necessarily at fault for the goal either. However, as Hansi Flick has already clarified, Inaki Pena will likely start this next game as well.

Right-back: Jules Kounde

The Frenchman continues to be a consistent component of Hansi Flick’s team and for good reasons. His defensive contributions remain elite and he is gradually working on his offensive abilities as well to support his forwards.

Centre-back: Pau Cubarsi

Never under pressure despite still only being 17 years old, Pau Cubarsi is essential to this Barcelona team and how they play out from the back. Along with Inigo Martinez, he is defensively crucial for the team as well.

Centre-back: Inigo Martinez

Alongside Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez has formed a rather formidable Barcelona defensive partnership. Both Spaniards are almost alert and Inigo’s leadership is beginning to shine in a team where he is surrounded by youngsters all around him.

Left-back: Alejandro Balde

His electric abilities continue to cause issues for opposition on the left flank and Hansi Flick will be hoping to use that to disrupt Bayern at any given moment throughout the game.

CDM: Marc Casado

Alongside his other midfielders, Marc Casado stands out for his defensive contributions and his non-stop workrate. The Spaniard has breathed a new life into this team this season with his qualities, and his place in the starting eleven seems to be locked in.

CDM: Pedri

A brilliant performance against Sevilla and with his consistent displays throughout this season, the Barcelona midfielder remains a constant for Hansi Flick and will be a guarantee for the Bayern Munich clash as well.

RAM: Lamine Yamal

Lamine Yamal, a player who simply cannot be done just by mere adjectives, is another star whose participation against Bayern Munich will be more or less guaranteed. The Spanish winger will be a player who will be counted on by Flick and his teammates to cause as many problems for Bayern as possible.

CAM: Fermin Lopez

Given that Eric Garcia is now injured and Ansu Fati’s cameo was not necessarily the most mind-blowing experience in the last game, Fermin Lopez could be the player who could get his chance to shine. His intensity would suit Hansi Flick’s system perfectly and the €50m-rated star is also a goal threat from distance.

LAM: Raphinha

With a tireless work rate and a dangerous presence in front of the opposition goal, Raphinha has reformed himself into a player who is considered to be vital for Hansi Flick’s system. Moreover, given how frequently he contributes goals, he is also essential beyond just his other contributions.

Centre-forward: Robert Lewandowski

With another brace in the last game, Robert Lewandowski remains the top scorer for Barcelona this season by quite some distance. Now, however, he will get his opportunity to face off against his former team Bayern Munich and he will want to be on the scoresheet once again.
