The summer window continues to get warmer in terms of transfers, and FC Barcelona are no strangers to the development. A certain defender of the club currently on loan at a side in England may just have received the green light to make a permanent switch.
Previously a player for Sevilla and now contracted to FC Barcelona until 2026, Clement Lenglet had received a mixed reception during the time he played for the Catalans. In times of havoc, he was typically one of the first to have fingers pointed towards. Thus, as time passed, a loan move seemed to be the best-case scenario for the struggling Barcelona center-back.
Thus, the player was sent out on loan to English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. A humble club that boasts not too much in terms of silverware but continues to be a growing club nonetheless with the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min leading their frontlines.
The French defender has had a decent enough start to life in England, so much so that the club was reportedly considering making his loan move into a permanent transfer and has already informed the Catalan club regarding their intentions as previously reported by Mundo Deportivo.
As per most recent reports from Mundo Deportivo, current interim coach Ryan Mason himself said in an interview that the club would prefer to keep a player like Lenglet and referred to him as a proper professional in his statement:
“I would say that Clément is the type of player we want in the training camp… he’s professional, he does it well. He’s vocal and the more people we can retain, the more beneficial it is.”
With the Frenchman not being in the future plans of Xavi, FC Barcelona would prefer to not delay the operation any more than it needs to be delayed. The two clubs mainly need to figure out the transfer fee for the player to join the Spurs on a permanent basis.
I’m finished wit this club until Levy is out.. He’s buying rubbish on purpose to spite us”
