One of the most important assets for FC Barcelona remains their development program. Their subsidiary and youth talents continue to cover for the team and provide them additional depth whenever needed. However, Barcelona also has to maintain order within its squad’s hierarchy.
For this reason, the Catalan giants rarely call upon their subsidiary players to become regulars for the first team. Yet, certain special talents manage to make their own space in the team. One such name, undoubtedly, is that of Marc Guiu, who continues to be a great addition wherever he is.
A 17-year-old striker who features mainly for Juvenile A, Guiu has exploded to life with the first team this season. However, it is exactly due to this reason, that his absence from the recent open-door training session was a surprise, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo.
Previously, he was even a part of the training session conducted after the winter holidays for the players. This time around, however, he was nowhere to be seen.
Simultaneously, he was not with Rafa Marquez’s Barcelona Atletic side either for their latest friendly. In fact, his actual presence confused many at first.
Thus, MD has highlighted the player’s actual whereabouts. He is currently with Juvenile A as they prepare for their own strong opponents up ahead.
While his record with the first team remains undeniable, having already scored two official goals with very few minutes, his services are needed by Oscar Lopez it seems.
They have two games in particular, one against Celta in the Copa Del Ray and the other against Mainz in the UEFA Youth League, that Lopez’s team will be hoping to win.
Both of these could require Guiu’s services, who would have to abandon Xavi’s squad for them. However, Barcelona will not be too worried, as Vitor Roque has already arrived and is actively participating.
