Club football in Europe is currently going through a break because of the international commitments of players, but FC Barcelona are set to face Las Palmas in their upcoming game after the end of this international break.
The Catalans were able to get a 1-2 victory in their last match against the Canary Islanders back in January, but it is clear that Garcia Pimienta’s side is no easy team to play against. Las Palmas has not been able to win any of their last five league games, but is still placed 11th on the league table.
But as SPORT has reported, the problems for the Canary Islands team have increased even further as one of their key players this season, Julian Araujo, who is on loan from Barcelona, has suffered an injury while being on international duty with the Mexican national team.
The defender was playing in the match against Panama and felt discomfort in the back of his thigh at the 60-minute mark of this game.
His team was still able to win the match 3-0, but the footballer himself got a muscle injury, which will keep him away from action for the match against the United States, although the exact extent of this problem is not yet known.
Araujo will also not be able to play for Las Palmas against Barcelona even if he recovers from this injury, as he has a fear clause in his contract that bars the Garcia Pimienta from fielding him against his parent side.
In recent weeks, there have been reports that the defender can make a place for himself in the upcoming season in the Barcelona squad as he has been quite impressive so far during his loan stint at Las Palmas.
He himself recently acknowledged that returning to and succeeding at Barcelona is his dream, but it remains to be seen how matters unfold in the coming months.
