The operation for one of the very top priorities at FC Barcelona at this point of the summer transfer window seems to have stalled at a cold moment, as negotiations elsewhere seem to be advancing while those with FC Barcelona seem to have reached a dead end.
Neymar Jr became one of the most promising opportunities for FC Barcelona in terms of both a marketing and sporting prospect that the Catalan club, particularly its Directors, wanted to explore and hopefully advance this summer.
However, courtesy of consistent economic hurdles and the reluctance of Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez in relying on Neymar’s arrival, FC Barcelona are losing out on the opportunity to bring back a former hero of the class and may have to look elsewhere to compensate.
According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal and Neymar Jr’s current club Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement worth over €60 million for the transfer of the 31-year-old Brazilian superstar to the Middle Eastern club.
As per the journalist, Al-Hilal now wait for a definitive answer from the PSG player in terms of his formal green light for the operation so that he can be officially taken away by the Saudi club and continue his football outside of Europe.
Consequently, FC Barcelona could be set to lose out on the Brazilian superstar as a result of the undeniably lucrative offer from Al-Hilal, one that is economically much superior to any possible proposal that Barcelona could afford to offer at this point of the window.
However, while earlier reports suggested the possibility of Barcelona taking away the Brazilian star on loan from Al-Hilal in a ‘three-way’ operation in which scenario the 31-year-old would continue to compete in Europe for at least one more season at his former club, it appears that this possibility too no longer exists for the Catalan giants.
