FC Barcelona continue to take various approaches and tilt towards whatever opportunity they can find in order to reinforce the Catalan club in order to bring out the best possible squad at the disposal of Xavi Hernandez for the upcoming season.
Players ranging from the likes of Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, fullback Joao Cancelo, Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, Real Valladolid fullback Ivan Fresneda and even Villarreal fullback Juan Foyth are all targets that Barcelona has been following this summer.
The Catalan giants remain convinced of the players mentioned for different reasons, but perhaps the most extravagant target of all is Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr, currently contracted to French outfit Paris Saint-Germain and a player that has offered himself to Barcelona as per Mundo Deportivo.
Now, as highlighted by MD and conveyed directly by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Neymar Jr, and his current French club continue to remain in contact as they look to find an adequate solution for both parties that would allow the 31-year-old Brazilian star to depart.
Signed by PSG in 2017 when they took the player away from Barcelona for a world record fee of €222 million, which remains intact as the record even in today’s inflated market, the entire sporting plan has not come to fruition and is deemed to not have been as successful as was originally hoped for by the Parisians.
At the moment however, Xavi Hernandez remains unconvinced of the player’s sporting benefit in terms of continuity and is skeptical of the impact of the player on the team’s harmony in the locker room.
While the Barcelona manager remains committed to pursuing the arrival of Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, the completion of that operation is becoming increasingly challenging.
On the other hand, Barcelona higher-ups are hopeful that Xavi will come to approve the proposal to bring Neymar back due to the quality he brings as well as the marketable value of such a superstar that the Barcelona board continues to highlight as a major attraction towards his signing.
