FC Barcelona are no strangers to abrupt transfer operations coming into play at various stages of any particular transfer market. The Catalan club themselves have in the past made use of transfer opportunities that have evolved at any given time.
Now, it seems that Barcelona will have to be a victim of such an operation themselves as a particular club looks to take advantage of a reduced release clause of one of Barca’s most prized possessions.
According to RMC journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Barcelona could be met by an eager Paris Saint-Germain side who are close to finalizing an agreement with French winger Ousmane Dembele to join the Parisian outfit.
As per the report, Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain will be situated to pay the €50 million release clause currently set in the contract of the 26-year-old winger before the 31st of July, after which it will rise to €100 million.
Amidst reports of an ongoing renewal process, it comes as a bit of a surprise that such a situation has escalated to the point of Dembele potentially not signing with Barcelona after all.
Given his rise in terms of both physical consistency and performances, Dembele is in the best form of his Barcelona career under Xavi Hernandez and most reports believed that his renewal with the Catalan club was only a matter of time.
It remains to be seen just how legitimate this emerging report is, but it will be intriguing nonetheless to see how the future of the current Barcelona winger develops considering all the various motives that are at stake.
