Several weeks have passed since Xavi Hernandez announced his decision to depart from FC Barcelona at the end of the season, and the Catalans are taking their time to look for his replacement.
Among the different names that Deco and his staff are considering for this position, one of the more prominent is that of the former Barcelona trainer, Luis Enrique. The Spaniard has already won a treble with Barcelona and is one of the coaches liked the most by Deco.
However, getting him to train the Catalan team this time would not be easy in any way. Any operation to get him from PSG was highly complicated, to begin with, and SPORT reports that the Parisians would not even consider letting him leave this summer even if Barcelona makes an offer.
The report mentions that Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President of PSG, is already aware of the interest in Enrique from Barcelona, but is committed to keeping him in Paris.
He is very satisfied with the coach’s work, not only because of the results that his team is getting, being top with an eight-point cushion in Ligue 1 and having qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals, but also with how the Spaniard is managing the team.
As a result, the former Spanish national team coach will have a blank cheque from Khelaifi to assemble a fearsome team, but one that will be without Kylian Mbappe.
Furthermore, this is not the only bad news for Barcelona, as the report further claims that the Parisians are also keeping their eyes on a Barcelona starlet in addition to keeping Luis Enrique out of their grasp. This player is Gavi, whom the Parisian also tried to sign last summer.
Furthermore, the French club would move for the Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich if they are unable to land Gavi, another player who has been closely linked with Barcelona in the last few months.
