Sergino Dest is one of the FC Barcelona players playing out on loan this season, and has been taking full advantage of this opportunity to get back to the form that he showed earlier in his career in the Netherlands, but was never able to show during his time in Spain.

After spending an uneventful loan year in Italy with AC Milan, the fullback joined the Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the last summer transfer window on another loan.

This move has paid dividends for the defender as he has become an important part of the Dutch team, making 20 Eredivisie appearances, in which he has given 5 assists and scored 2 goals. The USA international has another 10 appearances in the Champions League, where he has added another assist to his tally.

Owing to these good performances, PSV are likely to exercise the €10 million buy option on the defender that was made a part of his contract. As SPORT has reported, the comments of PSV Football Director, Earnie Stewart, clearly showed the Dutch club’s intent in this regard.

Regarding the fullback, and another on-loan player, Malik Tillman, the official said: “Both are players who have done fantastic for PSV. I can say we hope both players stay.”

Further commenting on the Barcelona-owned fullback, the official emphasized the important role that he plays in his team:

“Dest is an offensive full-back who helps us play the way we want, going up and down the wing. I think it’s important for him to be at a club for a longer period.”

These comments from the PSV official clearly show how highly they value the defender. As Barcelona are also looking to sell Dest permanently, this could be a good sign for the Catalans, but with the performances Dest has put in this season, the Blaugranes would ideally want a sum higher than €10 million for his transfer.
