FC Barcelona conclude their first official game of the 2023/2024 La Liga EA Sports season with a goalless stalemate at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez against Getafe CF.

A rather frustrating opening game for the Catalans as they head back to Barcelona with only 1 point from their opening league fixture. Here is how the players faired in the game.

Player Ratings:

Marc Andre Ter Stegen: 7.0

The German goalkeeper and Barcelona captain was solid in terms of shot-stopping and was also reliable in his ball distribution.

Alejandro Balde: 6.0

Typically electric on the flank and a real nuisance for the opposition flank players to deal with, Balde was rather uncharacteristically quiet against Getafe on the night.

Andreas Christensen: 6.5

Great influence on the field while he was still playing, the Danish defender ended up being one of the first to be subbed off later due to the offensive dilemma caused by Raphinha’s sending-off.

Jules Kounde: 7.5

The Frenchman commandeered the middle of the defense quite well and was even exceptional carrying the ball forward. Solid performance from the Frenchman.

Ronald Araujo: 6.5

Felt tame at times in terms of the opportunities he was awarded by Getafe in this game and it remains apparent that his best position remains in the center of the defense.

Oriol Romeu: 7.0

Strong in possession and maintaining an assertive influence on proceedings, the 31-year-old Barcelona midfielder gave a solid performance all around.

Frenkie De Jong: 8.0

Arguably the player that most truly put his heart and soul out on the field today in an attempt to get Barcelona something out of this game, the Dutchman is one of the few who can leave this fixture with his head held up high.

Ilkay Gundogan: 6.0

The German midfielder had a few decent opportunities that he should have ideally tucked away, but his linkup play as well as his decision making were both a treat to watch.

Pedri: 7.5

Shifting between the wing and the midfield, the 20-year-old was essential to almost every dangerous play that Barcelona managed to create as he continues to be one of the most integral pieces of the team.

Robert Lewandowski: 5.5

The Polish striker’s influence was almost completely nullified by the Getafe defense as they made it almost impossible for Barcelona to provide him service nor was he exceptional enough on the night to get off his marker.

Raphinha: 2.5

His reckless decision that resulted in a red card dismissal for the Brazilian potentially cost Barcelona this game and the winger truly needs to sort himself out to avoid any future incidents such as this.

Substitutes:

Ez Abde: 6.0

Despite his obvious commitment to Barcelona and work rate within the game, the Moroccan winger’s decision-making was at times quite frustrating to watch.

Lamine Yamal: 7.5

Possibly the most influential offensive influence in the game once he was introduced, the 16-year-old constantly had the Getafe defenders on their toes and created some great chances for his teammates.

Ansu Fati: 6.5

Led the team at times within the frontline upon his introduction, Ansu Fati may have been able to flourish much more had certain chances gone his way during the game.

Gavi: 7.0

The youngster was all over the field and continued to be a massive headache for Getafe on the night, as he managed to both offensively put in a shift and also defensively made several contributions including a potentially goal-saving block.
