FC Barcelona have had a good start to the 2024-25 season as they have won two of their first games in La Liga. Both of these matches were quite difficult, and Flick passed both the tests against Valencia and Athletic Club with flying colors.
Now, the Catalans have another difficult match coming up as they are going to face Rayo Vallecano at the Vallecas tonight on Tuesday. Barcelona will be the stronger team on paper, but will still have to get the job done against a side that usually steps up against bigger opponents.
One of the integral players for this Vallecano side, Florian Lejeune, appeared in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, where he talked about this upcoming game against Barcelona. The defender named the two Barcelona players who will pose the biggest threat to this side and also shared his formula for stopping the Blaugranes.
When asked about how his side will stop Barcelona, the defender replied: “By being intense, very active, and putting a lot of pressure on them up front.”
The Frenchman then went on to name the main threats that Barcelona will pose against his side:
“Look, in the end, we all respect each other. But Barça is a very good team, one of the best in the world. From my position, Lewandowski is the toughest to face. Then they have Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres… so we’ll have to work hard and hope we get a bit of luck.”
Rayo Vallecano certainly know how to neutralize these threats as they were able to hold Barcelona to a 1-1 draw at the Vallecas last season. But with Flick now in charge, and the team starting the season in a rich vein of form, Barcelona will hopefully be able to get the better of Florian Lejeune and his colleagues in this match.
