Dani Olmo is one of the players who developed and grew at FC Barcelona before having a meaningful career at another club. The now Spain international was trained at La Masia before he left for Croatia at the age of only sixteen years.

He joined the top Croatian club, Dinamo Zagreb, before making the jump to Germany, where he opted for RB Leipzig as the next step in his career. The player recently renewed his contract with the German club till 2027, but that has not kept Barcelona from dreaming of his return to the Camp Nou.

Olmo remembers his time at Barcelona

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spanish forward appeared in a documentary recently, in which one of the subjects that he touches upon is his time at La Masia.

Olmo expressed that he was content at Barcelona and was also highly successful during this period of his career: “I was happy at Barça; in four out of the six years I spent there, I was the top scorer.”

The winger also commented on the positions he played in while at Barcelona: “As a forward and a winger; I was also part of the U-16 and U-17 national teams.”

The decision to go to Croatia at only sixteen years of age was not a road taken frequently by other top-level talents in Europe. However, the player believes it was not too bad a decision, keeping in view his later career:

“What I wanted was a sporting project for myself, and Dinamo gave me that. When you leave Barcelona, it’s not all rosy, and I understood that in Croatia. There, I became a man in every sense, both on and off the field.”

Return to Barcelona

Thus, Olmo definitely remembers his time in Barcelona with much fondness, as is clear from these comments. This will be a welcome boost for the Catalan club, which has never stopped being interested in the forward since his exit.

Another factor that can help the Blaugranes in their pursuit of the forward is the reported presence of a clause in his new contract, which could facilitate his move to Barcelona in the near future. However, currently, the player will be focusing on recovering from the injury that he suffered in the international game against Georgia.
