After strengthening only their attacking line in the last summer transfer window, FC Barcelona are expected to address other areas of the team in the coming months.

In this regard, one of the areas they have been reportedly looking to reinforce is the full-back position, as the replacements for both Kounde and Balde are two relatively inexperienced youngsters.

For this purpose, one of the players linked with them in recent days is Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies, whose contract with the Bavarian club ends at the end of the season, and who has yet to reach an agreement for a renewal.

Latest reports from Germany indicate that the two sides are getting increasingly farther away from a possible agreement and that Bayern have now practically given up on their hopes of being able to retain the defender.

The Bavarian club’s relationship with Davies’ agent, Nick Huoseh, is completely broken following their last meeting, as Bayern believes he disrespected the club. For now, they are contacting the player directly to convince him to stay.

The latest update on the €50m-rated Canadian fullback is provided by Bild (h/t SPORT), which claims that Real Madrid, who have already been strongly linked with the defender, are getting closer to signing him despite the interest from other big clubs like Barcelona and Manchester United.

There are only a few clubs that can meet Davies’ demands, and the Red Devils were willing to go to these lengths. However, the player himself is not too convinced by their sporting project.

Meanwhile, Barcelona has also made inquiries about the player, although Deco understands that his incorporation would be very difficult due to financial constraints. However, the Catalans are relying on the player’s relationship with Flick, which keeps this operation possible for them.

Real Madrid are currently the favorites to land him, but the Canadian has not yet signed an agreement, and Barcelona still holds hope. He will be free to enter into negotiations with any interested parties in January, and it is during that month that his future will become clearer.
