Barcelona have been in hot pursuit of Palmeiras teenage sensation Endrick Felipe hoping to shake off competition from other top European clubs for his signature.
Head coach Xavi Hernandez had confirmed the Catalan side’s interest in the 16-year-old forward but incoming reports from Fabrizio Romano claim that Real Madrid have overtaken Barcelona and other European clubs for the Brazilian starlet’s signature with a bid close to €72 million in place.
Barcelona had set their eyes on the Brazilian being a long-term solution to their offensive woes and had even held talks with the young forward’s entourage to convince him to grace the Blaugrana colors. It now seems Endrick is now off their cards as Real Madrid’s willingness to pay a large sum for the teenager plus Barcelona’s financial issues opens the door for his transfer to Madrid.
Endrick will thus join Madrid in the summer of 2024 when he is officially 18 years of age if the bid is accepted by Palmeiras.
Barcelona now have an uphill task of looking for another prospect to be their long-term striker and with targets such as Athletico Paranaense’s young prodigy Victor Roque being on their cards, it’s yet to be seen whoever Xavi and Barcelona decide to go for.
