Tensions within FC Barcelona seem to be never-ending in recent times. First came the entire controversy with Ilkay Gundogan that the media exaggerated to an extreme extent. Now, it seems that yet another gesture has diverted their focus to create more negative news out of.
The incident in question involves the snub from Robert Lewandowski to young Lamine Yamal. After attempting a shot by himself, the 16-year-old was blatantly ignored by his senior in the team. While this may have created many problems internally, it seems that external sources are now beginning to chime in as well.
As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid striker Joselu was also questioned regarding the incident. While being with the Spanish National team camp, one in which both Joselu and Yamal are present, the 33-year-old was asked to comment.
Once the reporter questioning him jokingly mentioned that Yamal is still too young to be scolded, Joselu replied with words of praise for the Barcelona youngster:
“We need to take care of Yamal a lot; he’s a gem that our country has, and we have to support him a lot here and help him in his daily life.”
The Real Madrid striker was then asked if he had scolded or talked to the player, to which he replied: “No, no, he has probably had enough.”
Joselu then continued with even more complimentary words for the young teenager. The Real Madrid forward also believes that he will undoubtedly become crucial for Spain in the future:
“The truth is that he’s a fantastic kid; what we do here is support him. He has a bright future ahead, and I believe he will be a key player for the national team.”
Spain and Lamine Yamal will face their first challenge of the international break against Cyprus in less than 24 hours, and will then take on Georgia a few days later. Upon his return, Yamal will focus back on Barcelona and their upcoming clash against Rayo Vallecano.
