Following the El Clasico clash between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, it comes as no surprise that there remains a great deal of animosity between both sides even in games as unrewarding as a pre-season friendly.
Heavy collisions and dangerous two-footed challenges were all at display as Los Blancos tried to contain and overcome a clinical Barcelona side on the night.
Following a 5-3 defeat for Barcelona to Arsenal, Real Madrid were coming into this game as favorites following their own 2-0 victory over English Premier League outfit Manchester United, a victory that surged morales within the Real Madrid side.
However, following the 3-0 defeat to Barcelona in their most recent clash, it appears that all that there was to showcase was not said on the field. As highlighted by ESPORT3, veteran Real Madrid fullback Dani Carvajal took his opportunity to launch a confrontational and arguably disrespectful message towards Barcelona undermining their quality, stating:
“In official competitions, we will walk over Barça (FC Barcelona)”
Dani Carvajal is the current starter for Real Madrid at the right-back position. Currently possessing 31 years of age to his name, the veteran Spaniard has faced off against Barcelona across La Liga, the Copa del Ray, and the Spanish super cup a total of 25 times.
Out of those 25 encounters against Barcelona, the fullback has only managed to emerge victorious on 10 of them. He has also helped his side contain La Blaugrana on only three different occasions successfully.
Lastly, in terms of losses across the three competitions that both clubs have mainly faced off in, the 31-year-old has suffered 12 losses to FC Barcelona.
It remains to be seen just how Xavi Hernandez and co react to this obvious taunt and if they decide to keep their cool and ensure that Barcelona does not end up making any rash decisions.
