FC Barcelona continue preparing for their upcoming match against Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. Xavi will be gunning to win this match and go through to the semi-finals of the tournament, but his team will have to put in a momentous shift on Wednesday night and the second leg to actually make that happen.
Barcelona did not have any La Liga commitments over this weekend, and thus will be able to go into the PSG match with well-rested players. Furthermore, Xavi has also received some good news on the injury front in the last few days.
The midfielder Frenkie de Jong had already returned to group training before he was joined by Pedri and Christensen in the friendly training match scheduled this past Saturday. Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, all these three players were also able to participate in the latest training session on Sunday.
The said training match was intended to give these players an opportunity to test their sensations, and Frenkie de Jong was able to play the full 60 minutes, while Christensen and Pedri played only a part of the match.
After this match, the three players continued to work on their recovery process, which is going in the right direction, and it is hoped that all three of them can travel with the squad to Paris in the coming days.
De Jong is the most advanced in his recovery from the sprained ankle he suffered at the start of March. Pedri is working on his recovery from an injury to his rectus femoris of the right thigh, while Christensen is working on improving his discomfort in the Achilles tendon.
While all these players are likely to return to the squad for the upcoming match, FC Barcelona will still take maximum precautions and are not likely to start all three recovered players in a match of such high intensity and high stakes.
