This 19th September will mark the completion of ten months from the time when the FC Barcelona midfielder Gavi suffered a torn ACL while playing for Spain in an international friendly. The youngster had to undergo surgery to recover from this injury and has been working on his recovery process since then.
At the time when his ACL tear and injury to the lateral meniscus was diagnosed, no recovery period was set. However, experts assured that recovery from such an injury should not be rushed, and Gavi would need at least a year to recover and play again.
The player’s recovery is currently going well, but as SPORT has reported, his entourage has always advised calm in this matter. Thus, Gavi will return to availability only when he is feeling well, and this could be any time from the end of October to the end of November.
Once he returns, he will be a significant reinforcement for Flick in the midfield. However, irrespective of the sporting solutions he offers on the pitch, his return will not be forced, even if Gavi himself wants to play again as soon as possible.
The midfielder has been working on the Tito Vilanova pitch for the last few weeks now, playing with the ball while also participating in some exercises with his teammates. Thus, he understands that he is already in the last stages of recovery, but also knows that he must take things easy and go through all the required stages.
The 20-year-old Barcelona midfield star also knows that he will get many chances to play once he returns to full fitness. Flick hinted at this on the day of his presentation. But for now, Gavi will have to continue working on his recovery and be a little more patient to make his return to the pitch in the best possible condition.
