FC Barcelona star Raphinha joined the club from Leeds United in the summer of 2022. It was a bumper summer for FC Barcelona as they signed Andreas Christensen and Marcos Alonso on free transfers while also securing Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich and Jules Kounde from Sevilla.

The Catalan club reached an agreement with Leeds United on a fee of around £55m with add-ons to sign the talented 27-year-old but it has taken three seasons for Raphinha to try to come into his own in a Blaugrana jersey.

So far this season, Raphinha has emerged as one of the best players on the planet. He has exploded to life in Hansi Flick’s system and his attacking output has significantly gone up. With six goals and six assists in 11 appearances across all competitions, it’ll be an understatement to say that he is in fine form.

Such has been his performances that he has drawn praise, with ESPN pundit Shaka Hislop claiming that Raphinha has been the best player in La Liga this season. Six months ago, the response might have been different but it is now time to say that the transfer from Leeds United has worked out for Barcelona.

A report by SPORT has now explained how much Barcelona still owes Leeds United for the transfer of Raphinha. The Yorkshire-based club does not play in the Premier League any longer having been relegated to the Championship for the past couple of seasons.

Barcelona owes Leeds United €559,000 in the short term and almost €42m in the long term. While the short-term commitment isn’t significant, it is the long-term commitment that makes one wonder how the club structured this deal.

In addition to the amounts owed to Leeds United, smaller amounts are due to be paid to Sporting de Portugal, Stade de Rennais, and Vitoria. Considering his recent performances, Barcelona will have no hesitation in paying the money for Raphinha.

Barcelona fans will be hoping for Raphinha to continue his good form throughout the season and keep chipping in consistently with goals or assists. The 27-year-old is currently on international duty with Brazil and let’s wait and see how his seasons pans out.
