There are no new additions expected in the FC Barcelona squad in the January transfer window, and none of the Blaugrana players look to be departing the club in January either.

Thus, Hansi Flick’s team is set for the rest of the season, but the Barcelona sporting department will still have a lot of work on their hands in the coming few months. Their most urgent task currently is to ensure the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor with La Liga in January.

However, additions to their squad are expected to take place in the next summer transfer window, and Mundo Deportivo has already revealed the name of the player who is going to be the first addition to the Barcelona squad in summer 2025, i.e., Jonathan Tah.

Although he has not formally joined the Blaugrana club, the defender has already decided that he will play for the Catalan side when his contract with Bayer Leverkusen expires at the end of this season.

The Azulgrana have been working on Tah’s signing for quite some time now. In fact, they tried to sign him in the last summer transfer window as well, but Leverkusen rejected their offer at that time. Bayern Munich, another team competing with Barcelona for Tah’s signing, also saw their offer rejected last summer.

However, for now, the player’s own close circle admits that the Blaugranes are in the pole position to sign him, while also admitting that Tah will not make a decision about his future until a few weeks.

In the first week of December, Deco had traveled to Germany to undertake a meeting with the defender and his agent. In this meeting, the groundwork for his future contract with Barcelona has already been laid out, and the defender’s first contract with the Blaugranes will be for five years, and thus go till 2030.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will have 6 defenders with Tah’s arrival, and both Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen would be highly likely to leave the club in this scenario.
