FC Barcelona barely won their match against Real Sociedad last Saturday, as Ronald Araujo left it late to strike in the 92nd minute to give Barcelona an unsurmountable lead.
However, Real Sociedad seemed the likelier team to come out with the full points in this match, and Barcelona definitely have work to do to improve their weaknesses.
With no goals scored in the first 92 minutes of the game, there were other spectacles that kept the spectators entertained throughout the game.
The episode of Inigo Martinez taking too long to understand Xavi’s instructions on a piece of paper has already been reported here, but there was another sequence of actions that caught the eye after the match.
Lewandowski seemingly ignores Xavi
Footage caught on camera after the match showing Robert Lewandowski entering the locker room and passing Xavi Hernandez without greeting him has been doing the rounds on social media, leading to speculation about the relationship between the two individuals.
It certainly appears to be so, as Xavi is there waiting to congratulate his players on the victory when Lewandowski comes and passes by while barely acknowledging Xavi’s presence.
The context for the footage
However, Mundo Deportivo reports that the real reason why Lewandowski did not greet Xavi at that time was because the Pole was being called for an anti-doping test by a La Liga official. The La Liga official can be seen talking with Lewandowski, in the presence of another Barcelona official, Carles Naval.
Lewandowski was aware of the request and thus went for the test before celebrating the win with his teammates. However, Barcelona were not too amused by this test, as the club explained that such requests are usually made before the match, and not after the match, as was the case last night.
