In its illustrious history, FC Barcelona have had some incredible players playing in their ranks from all parts of the world. But most of its most memorable players have hailed either from Europe or South America.
One such player from South America who will always remain a beloved figure in the Blaugrana faithful is the Brazilian forward Rivaldo, who has scored some of the most beautiful goals in the club’s history.
The former forward frequently talks about FC Barcelona in his public appearances. Recently, he talked at some length about his former club in Spain, as he appeared in an interview with SPORT.
One of the topics he addressed in this interview was related to his compatriot Raphinha, who is having a very good season under Hansi Flick.
The Brazilian already has 6 goals and 6 assists to his name in 11 appearances for the Catalans this season and is showing a clear improvement in his game since the German’s arrival on the Barcelona bench.
Rivaldo identified some of the reasons that are contributing to these improved performances from the €60m-rated Canarinha winger:
“I’m very happy with Raphinha this season; there’s a change in his confidence. When you have confidence in the coach… Xavi didn’t give him that much trust, and he spent many matches on the bench and coming on as a substitute, which is very complicated. Now he has the coach’s confidence, and everything is easier.”
The former Brazilian forward went on to express his belief that Raphinha can continue to remain important for the Blaugranes for several years to come:
“He can go much further; he has the potential to achieve great things for the club. To become an idol for Barça fans. He has quality, a very strong shot, and he likes to score goals… He’s going to do something very, very important for the club.”
With the form Raphinha is showing, there is little to argue with Rivaldo on this matter. Hopefully, he will continue performing at this level for years to come, and write his books in the history books like his predecessor, Rivaldo.
