Ronald Araujo spoke about the impact of Xavi’s arrival, his leadership qualities, being inspired by Carles Puyol, his renewal, offers from other clubs, his contract registration, the dressing room’s environment, and winning La Liga in his recent interview with EFE Deportes.

Ronald Araujo on working on his shortcomings:

“The injury helped me a lot, especially to work hard during the time I was out, analyze a lot, and see the mistakes. I watched a lot of videos, I physically worked on a lot of aspects that, when you’re competing, you might not work on.”

Ronald Araujo on getting back to full fitness:

“The idea was to get back to the rhythm of the team, which is difficult when you’ve been away for three months.”

Ronald Araujo on his inspiration:

“Carles Puyol is an inspiration for me. That’s why when I do a defensive action, I celebrate it because I experience it that way.”

Ronald Araujo on the impact of Xavi’s arrival:

“Since Xavi arrived, we’ve been growing. He implemented all the things that he wanted. In addition, we were able to have a good pre-season. We learned a lot at a defensive level both technically and tactically. Reinforcements arrived in defense and that added a lot.”

Ronald Araujo on learning from Xavi:

“With Xavi’s arrival, I learned a lot more because he gave us back the Barca philosophy, which had been lost in recent years. I’m the one who learned the most, but the team changed and it’s showing in the results.”

Ronald Araujo on his commitment to Barcelona:

“I am happy, happy to be at Barcelona, I always said that and I proved it with the contract renewal. I wanted to stay here, despite the many offers I had. I’m calm about the registration of my contract as the club is working on it.

Ronald Araujo on being a leader on the pitch:

“Yes, I consider myself a leader because of my character, because of who I am. I like the team to do well. I like to know how my teammates are okay because I want them all to be well. In the field, I talk all the time because it’s the way to stay focused. I know that this helps the colleagues a lot.”

Ronald Araujo on winning La Liga:

“Not winning the league would be a tremendous sadness because the team is performing very well and it depends on us to win it after so many years. With the team we have, I think we have to do it.”

Ronald Araujo on the dressing room environment:

“It is being shown on the field that we are a family, and we are all there to give our best.”
