Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo

Ronald Araujo training on the sidelines, apart from his teammates

Ronald Araujo continues to train by himself following the Catalan club’s recent UEFA Europa League play-off first leg against Manchester United. Initially many would assume this to be an injury-related concern for the FC Barcelona defender, but the reported reasonings remain reasonable.

Having already accumulated a total of 5 yellow cards this season against the likes of Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Real Valladolid, Real Sociedad, and the most recent one against Villarreal in FC Barcelona’s 1-0 win over the Yellow Submarines, the player has now amassed enough warnings to be suspended for the club’s next league outing against Cadiz.

During the team’s recent morning training session at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, the defender was training alone due to instructions from the sporting staff.

Reportedly, due to his suspension and seeing as he would not be partaking in the upcoming game, the Uruguayan has been excluded from training with his usual teammates as to reduce the workload put on the defender with lighter training in order to let him freshen up and recover fully in time for the next leg of the Europa League tie against Manchester United.

The Uruguayan defender has made 17 appearances for FC Barcelona this season and is the pivotal center of their defensive structure. The Catalans typically tend to suffer quite a lot more when the player is missing, and it will be up to Xavi to establish just how he manages to tackle this obstacle of being without his star defender in this upcoming fixture.

Apart from Ronald Araujo, FC Barcelona will also be without the services of Pedri and Ousmane Dembele for the upcoming tie against Cadiz in La Liga Santander, as both players are expected to still be sometime away from fully recovering following their respective injuries. On a bright note, however, Sergio Busquets makes his return from injury and makes the squad list for the outing against Cadiz.
