A close victory sees FC Barcelona emerge as the victors against CA Osasuna. The Catalan club needed a positive result, and getting it at the Montjuic Stadium was crucial. Ultimately, Barcelona took away all three points from a game they will be happy to have won.
However, most of the praise for the victory has to go to one man in particular. Arriving from Brazil in the winter transfer window, Vitor Roque emerged as the hero of the hour for Barcelona. Within a minute of his substitution and arrival into the game, the 18-year-old scored the only goal of the match.
A brilliant blend of buildup and finishing, his qualities were all on display. Being able to smell danger and create it as well, there seems to be a lot of promise to Roque’s plays. As SPORT has highlighted, he even spoke about various topics following the victory and his goal.
Speaking about the feeling of scoring his first for Barcelona, Roque made sure to hold none of his excitement and joy back: “I am very happy to score my first goal. It’s a goal worth three important points. It’s a goal I’ve been looking for a long time, and I’ve been able to score.”
Talking about his dream of representing Barcelona and scoring for them, the 18-year-old was open about what it meant to him: “I remember that it’s a childhood dream come true. Scoring with this jersey is incredible.”
In terms of analyzing the goal itself, Roque explained that it was a rather natural route for him towards the cross: “I saw the ball on the wing and ran to head the cross.”
Beyond just this game, however, the Brazilian striker continues to work towards improving and being effective for Barcelona in the future: “I am working to adapt as quickly as possible. With hard work, things will come naturally.”
Comparing La Liga to the football in his home country, Roque explained the difference and how he has to be more “attentive”: “The ball moves much faster in La Liga compared to Brazil. I have to be attentive to every ball.”
Lastly, the youngster also talked about the dressing room atmosphere and Barça’s La Liga aspirations: “The locker room is good. We continue working to keep fighting for the league.”
