As the start of the summer window approaches, the transfer business is well and truly underway, and there is one league that is already making huge moves on the market. Interestingly enough, this isn’t either of the top leagues of Europe but one rising football superpower, the Saudi Pro League.
With the aim to attract top players from Europe’s major leagues, the Arabs spare no expense when it comes to making tempting financial offers, and after already officially confirmed arrivals such as the Ballon d’Or-winner Karim Benzema or Chelsea duo Kalidou Koulibaly and N’golo Kanté, they are about to close a deal for Hakim Ziyech and Édouard Mendy.
The next one on the list of the Saudi higher-ups, according to Mundo Deportivo, is Franck Kessie, the 26-year-old midfielder who is under contract at the Catalan club until 2026. After a failed attempt to sign Robert Lewandowski, the Saudis will now try to convince another Barcelona player in Kessie to join the Middle Eastern league with a dizzying offer.
For now, the Ivorian player hasn’t received a proposal, but he will receive it in the coming days. Kessie prioritizes staying at Barca, but if the club informs him that they do not count on him although he still has three more years left on his contract, he would consider the proposals that are on the table.
From the outset, if he cannot stay in the Catalan city, the Barcelona midfielder is attracted to the idea of playing in the Premier League or the Bundesliga. Although he initially doesn’t see himself playing in Arabia yet, if Kessie receives the offer, he will evaluate it, without closing any door, except for returning to Italy, which, after spending nine years there, considers that it is an already finished stage.
