FC Barcelona continue to work towards ending the year on a positive note. Recent results have not exactly gone the way that La Blaugrana would ideally have wanted, but they continue to move forward. Two games are all that’s left for Barcelona to close off the last month of the year.
Their upcoming encounter is scheduled to take place against 20th-placed Almeria at the Montjuic Stadium. Heading into the game, Barcelona already have various casualties in the team that will not be available for selection.
Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Gavi, Inigo Martinez, and Marcos Alonso are all currently injured. With their return dates not having yet arrived, they continue their recovery gradually. Another casualty for the game is Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong, who is suspended due to an accumulation of five yellow cards.
However, to compensate for these losses, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Xavi has called upon the services of various subsidiary players. Ander Astralaga, Diego Kochen, Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort, Aleix Garrido, Marc Casado, and Marc Guiu have all been invited by Xavi to train with the first team.
Barcelona Atletic do not have any more games until January of next year, so Xavi took the opportunity to call upon them. The game against Almeria could see some of them feature, but is not a guarantee for now. Instead, the players are expected to travel with the first team to Dallas in the United States of America.
The friendly in America is expected to generate a generous amount of revenue for Barcelona. It will be the final game of the year after which the players will likely get a few days off. The match is scheduled to take place against Mexican side Club America in the city of Dallas.
This match could also provide a great chance for the youngsters from the subsidiary to shine. By doing so, they could potentially create a whole new space for themselves within Xavi’s team as well. Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez have done it before, so they have a great precedent set for them.
