Barcelona may have settled their squad for the current season, but they remain focused on the future as well. The Catalan club, like most other European giants, remain keen on having a proper plan moving forward. As such, Barcelona already have a list of players they could potentially target in the future.
These names contain both established superstars as well as youngsters worth counting on. Moreover, while most of these players are currently in Europe, there are also those being targeted by Barça that play outside the Old Continent.
Highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the following seven players are potential targets for FC Barcelona. Ranging from Spain, Germany, England, and all the way to Brazil, the list contains some exciting names:
Messinho:
Young Messinho is the only player on the list who is not currently in Europe. Playing for Palmeiras in Brazil, 16-year-old Estevao Willian is considered a great pearl of South America. Expected to achieve great things in the future, Deco in particular remains in favor of bringing him to Barcelona.
Florian Wirtz:
The shining star of Bayer Leverkusen, Florian Wirtz can be described with no adjectives. A brilliant technical player with the added flair to thwart opposition goal, Wirtz is truly a unique talent. His love for Barcelona is public information, but his valuation is something that La Blaugrana will need to assess.
Kaoru Mitoma:
Kaoru Mitoma is a winger that emphasizes the basics and perfects them to an extreme level. A dribbling sensation, his understanding of the art has enabled him to gain much fame for it.
Currently a player for Brighton in England, the Japanese international is a technical marvel that Barcelona follow closely. His current contract runs until 2027, but Barça will look for opportunities if they manage to come up at any point.
Joshua Kimmich:
Recent updates have suggested that a rift continues to grow between Joshua Kimmich and Bayern Munich. A great player with much success in his career, Kimmich remains a real target for Barcelona. His excellence as a pivot would be a great addition to a side that struggles with that position in particular.
Arthur Vermeeren:
Royal Antwerp possess one of European football’s most exciting talents. A pivot by the name of Arthur Vermeeren has managed to encapsulate the attention of Barcelona. Seen as a more economical option than Kimmich, Barcelona are keeping close tabs on the development of the 18-year-old.
Nico Williams:
The younger of the two Williams brothers, Nico has been on the agenda for Barcelona since quite some time. Only 21 years of age, the Spaniard possesses great potential and dynamism. His excellence with both Athletic Bilbao and the Spanish National team has caught the eye of La Blaugrana.
Dani Olmo:
A star for both Spain and RB Leipzig, Dani Olmo is a great target of Barça’s. A former La Masia player, Barcelona have kept an eye on him following his eruption in Germany.
Currently contracted to the Bundesliga side until 2027, he does have a release clause of €60 million. Moreover, given his affinity for Barcelona, there could potentially be an opening to sign him up at some point.
While all these names represent great talents, Barcelona will need to be smart with their finances. No longer able to spend lavishly as they did so in the past, the Catalan giants will take their time in terms of assessment. Only necessary signings will ultimately be made according to whatever criteria the sporting sector establishes.
