The current economic state of Barcelona is unsurprisingly a very vulnerable one. La Blaugrana are riddled with debt and are continuously struggling to dedicate the right finances to adequate programs. However, despite their inabilities, Barcelona continue to find alternatives.

In light of their inability to acquire or bid for the massive superstars of the world, Barcelona have had to resort to other measures. One such measure has been betting on promising youngsters who would not be too costly right now to acquire, but possess the right talents to develop into something much greater.

As such, Mundo Deportivo has placed Barça’s focus primarily on those who are still under 18 years of age. These starlets, hailing from across the world, have all attracted the attention of Barcelona and are all currently in different moments in their respective progressions.

Here are the seven Under-18 starlets that FC Barcelona currently has on their agenda.

1: Lucas Bergvall (Djurgarden)

Aged just 17, Lucas Bergvall is one of the great Swedish revelations. Currently contracted to Djurgarden, the midfielder has attracted the attention of Barcelona and other greats in Europe. His technical abilities and physical prowess are already worth noting.

2: Matija Popovic (Free agent)

Formerly a forward for Partizan Belgrade, the young Serbian is now a free agent this year. However, despite the interest from Barcelona, it seems that Bayern Munich may be the team closest to signing the Serbian prodigy.

3: ‘Messinho’ (Palmeiras)

One of great prodigies from South America, Estevao Willian is a 16-year-old winger from Palmeiras. While he has a lot of European clubs currently after his signature, both the player and his entourage seem to be leaning towards Barcelona.

4: Arthur Vermeeren (Royal Antwerp)

Another major target for Barcelona, the 18-year-old Belgian is quite the gifted midfielder. Moreover, he has also faced off against the Catalan club in the UEFA Champions League this season.

5: Almugera Kabar (Borussia Dortmund)

One of the great revelations at the Under-17 FIFA World Cup, Almugera Kabar was one of Noah Darvich’s teammates in the German team. Currently contracted to Borussia Dortmund, a move could be possible in the future.

6: Claudio Echeverri (River Plate)

Similar to Messinho, Claudio Echeverri is among the great new revelations from South America. While the Argentinian is a great target for Barcelona, he may soon be on his way to Manchester City.

7: Momodou Sonko (BK Hacken)

Another one of Sweden’s great new prospects, Momodou Sonko is a winger who has impressed a lot with BK Hacken. From his country, reports suggest that Barcelona is one of his many suitors.
