Since the defeat to Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal, there has been news coming out of the club that clearly shows a division in the locker room.

While differences and the creation of sub-groups are natural in any group boasting of such diversity, recent years have seen the division between different sets of players in the Barcelona locker room grow to a significant extent.

In this regard, Spanish media outlet, SPORT, has identified several sub-groups in the Barcelona dressing room, which can help understand the dynamics of the team going forward.

Firstly, there is a group of Spanish-speaking players, who are united by the bond of language. Thus, players like Gavi, Pedri, Ferran Torres, Marcos Alonso, Inigo Martinez, and Sergi Roberto have a good relationship with each other, which is usually on display whenever these players train in training sessions.

Secondly, there is also a sub-group of the young players who have recently been promoted from the youth ranks. Players like Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort, Marc Guiu, Fermin Lopez, Ander Astralaga, and Marc Casado thus maintain a good bond. This group understands its role perfectly, and usually tries to observe things without creating too much fuss.

Some players who have been at Barcelona for years have also established a relationship that has only strengthened with time. This is especially true for the three captains, Sergi Roberto, Ter Stegen, and Frenkie de Jong.

However, some recent arrivals like Robert Lewandowski, Ilkay Gundogan, and Andreas Christensen are also close to this group because they can all speak English.

In addition to these groups, there are some individual bonds also booming in the Barcelona locker room. For instance, Cancelo and Felix go along quite well, while the former has also taken Yamal under his wing at Barcelona.

Raphinha and Vitor Roque also share a similar relationship, and the former is also good friends with Ronald Araujo, as they can both speak Portuguese.
