The current injuries at FC Barcelona are undoubtedly concerning for Xavi Hernandez. The Blaugranes have many key players currently sidelined due to their various injuries and physical problems. However, beyond just that, Barcelona are also worried about exactly when these stars can return in this ongoing campaign.
With the second half of the season having kicked off, Barcelona have no more room for mistakes. The Catalan club has been sluggish as it is in the entirety of the first half. Now, Xavi’s men need to pick themselves back up again and ensure that they do what is needed to make things right.
However, as SPORT highlights, not every player will be returning at the same time. Some of the stars currently injured will take much longer than others to recover and thus, return to action. As such, the six players currently injured have been assessed for when they can potentially return.
Ter Stegen: Out for two months
The German has had back problems for quite some time now. However, he finally decided to undergo surgery and is currently recovering from it. He was expected to be out for two months, and could potentially return in February since his recovery began some time ago.
Marcos Alonso: Out until March
Similar to Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Marcos Alonso also had back problems. Following his surgery, he is also expected to be out for some time. His return could possibly come in March.
Joao Cancelo: Doubt for Super Cup final
Since suffering a knock against Las Palmas, Joao Cancelo has been in recovery from an MCL strain. While there is a slight chance of him featuring against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final, it looks rather unlikely.
Inigo Martinez: Out for 4-6 weeks
After returning from injury, Inigo Martinez was allowed to play a few minutes against Barbastro. Unfortunately, it did not take him too long before getting injured again. He is now expected to be out for 4-6 more weeks.
Raphinha: Out for a month
The latest casualty for Barcelona, Raphinha suffered his injury in the semi-final against Osasuna. He suffers from an injury in the biceps femoris of his left thigh. At the moment, he is expected to miss action for Barcelona for around a month.
Gavi: Out for the rest of the season
In terms of long-term injuries, no player has had it worse than Gavi this season. Due to an injury to both his ACL and his meniscus, the young Spaniard is expected to be out for the rest of the season now.
