With the Euros now headed to the knockout stage, many Barcelona players are still active in it. Representatives for the Catalan club are still there to wear the colors of their nations and possibly improve their individual valuations as well. However, few players have impressed in the tournament as much as a certain Barcelona wonderkid.

16-year-old Spanish winger Lamine Yamal has arguably been the standout youngster of the tournament so far. Many people have come forward to express their admiration of the Barcelona pearl, including the likes of other top youngsters and veterans alike.

Now, the latest to join this group of players is none other than another Real Madrid legend. Nacho, aged 34, is also a part of the Spanish side currently playing in the Euros, and as Mundo Deportivo has highlighted, he had some big words of praise for Yamal in his recent interview:

“Lamine is a special case. We talked about it with our teammates. When we were 16, we were joking around with friends at school. I imagine he must be living a dream, but he has an incredible talent and ability. He’s a good kid and has fit in well with the group. As players, we are judged by what we do on the field, and Lamine does extraordinary things. It’s a pleasure to have him with us on the team.”

Knowing how important Yamal is to this Spain team, it hardly comes as a surprise to hear Nacho say this. After all, even his former teammate at Real Madrid, Luka Modric, did not refrain from labeling the Barcelona youngster as one of the most dangerous players he would have to come up against.

However, Nacho himself is no longer part of Real Madrid. The six-time UEFA Champions League winner will be joining a team in Saudi Arabia this summer, and this is possibly his last time coming into direct contact with players from rival side FC Barcelona on a football field. Only this time, he gets to play with those players as teammates rather than as adversaries.
