There is no doubt that the return of FC Barcelona to the 1:1 rule was a significant achievement for the current administration. With this change in status, the Catalans will find it significantly easier to undertake their desired moves in the market, and there are already some changes in the team expected in January.
Before this change, the Blaugrana side was reluctant to part ways with any of their players, as the income obtained would not have allowed them to get another player in his stead.
But even in that scenario, Barcelona were willing to part ways with one player in particular, the forward Ansu Fati, who has not been able to find a place for himself in Hansi Flick’s side since his return to the Catalan club from a loan in the Premier League last summer.
As Fichajes has noted, the German coach clearly does not want the La Masia graduate in his team going forward, and a very prominent indication of this intent was Fati’s exclusion from the squad for both of the Spanish Super Cup games, against Athletic Club and against Real Madrid.
The Spaniard has once again been unlucky with injuries since his return to Barcelona, as these injuries kept him from participating in the pre-season tour of the USA and the ensuing two muscle injuries have also disallowed him any kind of continuity of form.
Meanwhile, Flick has several other options for his attack, which was further reinforced with the arrival of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor in the last summer transfer window.
In such a context, a loan away from the Catalan club remains the preferred option for the Blaugrana club, as it can help Fati recover his form and regain his confidence.
The player himself is not too keen for such a move and finding a suitable destination for him will also not be easy, but the lack of opportunities at Barcelona can still force him to accept a move away in January.
