After the defeat against Villarreal, Xavi Hernandez announced that he would be leaving FC Barcelona at the end of the season. The Barcelona head coach had been under a lot of pressure for the last few days as the team had been performing at a very poor level.

However, Xavi is not the only coach who has already announced his decision to step down from his position at the season’s conclusion. The Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, also recently announced that he will leave his club when the season ends, and his announcement had put several big European clubs on high alert.

The German has already made it clear in the strongest terms that he will not join any other club in England, and thus, the Premier League can be ruled out as a possible future destination for him.

Other than that, his future plans are not really known, and SPORT reports that he will reflect upon his options with his wife to make a decision about his future.

La Liga can be an attractive option for the German, especially as Klopp already has a big farmhouse in Mallorca. The pleasant weather that Spain offers can be a factor influencing Klopp’s decision about his future.

If coming to Spain turns out to be the case for Klopp, Barcelona would be the natural destination for him. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are already committed to Ancelotti and Simeone respectively, and only Barcelona will provide Klopp with a project big enough for him to remain in the spotlight in Europe.

Even outside of Spain, Klopp has only limited options open for him. Bayern Munich are likely to get rid of Thomas Tuchel but want to replace him with Xabi Alonso.

PSG signed Luis Enrique only last summer, and Italian football does not have the standing anymore to attract top-level coaches. Premier League is also not an option, while Klopp is also unlikely to go to Saudi Arabia at this point in time.

Meanwhile, as already reported, Joan Laporta is also a big fan of German coaches in general, and Jurgen Klopp in particular. The German’s signing can be a coup for Barcelona, as his arrival will motivate the fans once again about the club’s prospects.
