Pedri has emerged as one of the most important players for FC Barcelona in the last few years. The youngster made this debut in the 2020-21 season under Ronald Koeman, and has not looked back since then.

In all the seasons he has played with the Barcelona first team, Pedri has been an integral part of the squad. However, his recurring injuries are a concern, but the games that he misses with these injuries are a further testament to his importance in the team.

Exhausting first season for Pedri

Pedri’s first season at Barcelona was a very demanding one for the Canary Islander. He not only debuted and played a significant role in Barcelona’s squad, but also went on to participate in the Tokyo Olympics with Spain, where he also won a silver medal.

However, such sustained physical exertion led to continued physical problems for the youngster, and as SPORT has noted, he missed a significant number of games in the ensuing seasons.

Barcelona keenly miss the midfielder on the pitch

Pedri missed 30 games next year and made only 12 appearances for the Catalan club in La Liga. His absence had a significant impact on the club, as Barcelona were able to win only 42% of these 30 games missed by Pedri.

The youngster then missed another 15 games due to injury, and in the current season, he has already missed nine games up to now. Thus, Pedri has missed 54 games in total with Barcelona, and of these games, the Catalans have won 27, drawn 13, and lost 14.

This translates into a 50% win rate, 24% draw rate, and 26% loss rate, and clearly shows how much Barcelona miss Pedri when he is injured.

For now, Pedri is nearing return from his latest injury, and may see time on the pitch as soon as Barcelona play Athletic Club after the international break.
